How do Rumors Get Started?

A commenter over at Kos claims that Carville and Dean were hanging out last night in D.C. after another very successful Dean rally in Maryland. First, the Post write-up of the rally is actually reasonably positive, surprisingly for the Post:
With campus police estimating the crowd at 3,700 , the rally served as a show of organizational might on the eve of the second debate of the Democratic primary season. The 90-minute debate, sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus and Fox News, is to be broadcast at 8 p.m. today from Morgan State University in Baltimore.

[...]In Maryland, Democrats will not cast their ballots until March 2. But that hasn't dimmed the fervor of Dean partisans in the state. Terry Lierman, Dean's Maryland coordinator and co-chairman of his national finance committee, boasted that Dean already has 6,000 volunteers, many of them drawn to nearly two dozen Internet-driven "meet-ups" that gather across Maryland.
And over in a Kos open thread, NickM writes:
I was on Gov. Dean's bus going to the rally at the University of Maryland last night. According to the Washington Post, 3,700 people, mostly fired-up students, were there - it was a great event and a great speech. After we got on the bus by Union Station, we had to drive to downtown DC where The Gov. was having a meeting. When we got there, James Carville was standing on the sidewalk with Dean, and Carville got on the bus and gave us all a hello. He got a roar of cheers. Which makes me wonder - why was Carville meeting with Dean? What is the ongoing relationship between the Clinton machine and Carville nowadays?
