Cynical SOTU

I only caught a few minutes of the President's Recitiation of His Laundry List, but that was enough to catch him cracking grins while (among other things) claiming that he and the Republican Congress will be good stewards of the people's money.

When you can no longer keep a straight face while you lie, you're pretty much broken as a politician.

Goodbye, Mr. Bush.

P.S. to the Democrats who interrupted Bush to applaud the sunset of the Patriot Act: Good Show.

They did the same thing after he said "The tax cuts you passed will expire this year". Got nice glares from Bush each time, too -- he's angry.

Hell yes, he's an angry guy. Check this out.

Did everyone catch how his handlers are letting him mangle the English language even in his prepared speeches now: "[T]he Kay Report identified dozens of weapons of mass destruction-related program activities..."

From WMD, to WMD programs, to, uhh, WMD-related program activities. Next up: WMD-related program activity dreamy fantasies!

Yeah, I got a kick of imagining the fights in newspaper rooms all over America about the right way to hyphenate that rather, um, unique construction.
