Thank you, Vermont
I am simultaneously gratified, relieved and
highly entertained by
Howard Dean's 58-34 stomping of Kerry in Vermont. (Surely Edwards' absence on the ballot had something to do with it, but as Kerry likes to say: a win's a win!)
I interpret the voters of Vermont thus:
"Yes, yes, Kerry will be the nominee. Fine. We'll support him in November. But today?
"Today, we salute and applaud Howard Dean."
The people who know him best supported him overwhelmingly over all the others, giving Dean 9 more delegates.
P.S. Long-gone candidate Lieberman got 5% in Connecticut. Good for him, even though he didn't match Dean's home-state draw.
