"If nominated, I will not run..."

In other news, BOPNews' Rick Heller has started a petition for potential Republican voters to ask Bush to Decline the Nomination.

I'm sure it's pointless -- the unusually late date for the Republican convention pretty much rules it out; there's not enough time left for the New Guy to successfully campaign after that -- but it probably feels good anyway; 313 people have signed it at this writing. (I will not sign, as I am sure that I won't be voting for whoever the Republicans put up even if it's not Bush -- that would leave too much power in the hands of extremists.)

The funniest part is reading the signatures of some people who are obviously unclear on the concept that signing your name to a petition means you will be counted as a supporter of it.
