John Edwards' Book
I read John Edwards' book
Four Trials. It was extremely well-written, and even though he had a writer who was co-credited with him, it was definitely his voice. I think part of that is because he was able to pull direct quotes from the trial transcripts here and there. Anyway, it made me teary in places. It's a very quick read and even though you can't help but feel for the people he's representing in these trials, it doesn't come across as too manipulative to me. A deft storytelling.
I still haven't forgiven Edwards for his regionalism in yelling at Dean about "people like you" and implicitly denigrating Northerners. If it was genuine outrage, well, he really needs to get past his regional bias, and if it was political posturing, well, I don't have much patience for that. But, aside from that, I haven't found much that bothers me about John Edwards. I think he'll be a fine Vice President. Certainly by the average standards set in my lifetime and very likely on the merits, as well.
